Today’s businesses are closing on certain days or shutting down all together due to lack of staffing. Employers have a product to offer the client but often do not realize the product they need to offer is to the employee. Without a shift in how recruitment is done, businesses will continue to struggle. Workforce recruitment is a switch that moves back and forth from employer market to employee market. Working with the tools that are available to you, and understanding that everything in today’s world affects recruitment, I will talk about the importance of observation, communication, and retention with your current staff to be effective in your recruitment methods. Meeting the people where they are at and knowing what is important to them becomes your greatest advantage over your competition. Taking what you know about your target market, your competitors need, and you can have the confidence to know you can staff with the best and brightest.
Brad retired from the Marine Corps after 22 years in 2016; spending three of those years as a successful recruiter and recruiting sub-station commander. Recruitment became a high interest after the military, and he constantly is developing and learning from the environment around him. He worked as a Management and Provider recruiter at a non-profit community health center in San Diego immediately following retirement. Brad became the HR Manager for both Bend and Redmond Lowe’s stores after returning to Central Oregon. He then was the HR Manager for another non-profit community health center prior to working at Tetherow Resort. He has a bachelor’s degree in business management with an HR emphasis. Brad is married with four boys and enjoys all the Central Oregon outdoors has to offer.
