Join us for our January membership meeting - Leadership for All: Bystander and Upstander
Most of us have experienced situations in which we have the clear sense that someone is feeling uncomfortable, unsafe, feeling disrespected and minimized. This may even have been you. In this presentation, Aili Johnston will walk participants through a three-step process: learning to recognize when someone is uncomfortable and needs help, acquiring and practicing the tools and techniques to address the situation, and ensuring that your employees feel empowered with these skills to face adversity and marke a difference.
In this presentation, Aili will define a bystander and upstander, discuss “the bystander effect,” and the “5-D’s” to successful intervention. These intervention techniques address workplace incidents involving harassment and discrimination, safety concerns, bullying, sexual misconduct and more. Aili uses lecture, group exercises, and complex and real-life scenarios to assist participants in the practice of their new skills. Time will be available for Q&A at the end of the presentation.
